Pros and cons of having an opposite sex best friend?

Pros of having a female best friend:
- Better emotional support compared to non-existent emotional support from guys (I don't know for some reason 95% of guys I know are afraid to show any emotion)
- Guide of female mind, troubleshooter of female related problems.
- Different kind of jokes, activities.
- I can be myself. All of my female friends (not just best ones, all of them) accept my little sentimental side (I don't cry but you can notice I'm getting emotional) while only closer male friends accept it without making fun of me.

Cons of having a female best friend:
- Nothing really except that feelings part. In my case I could develop feelings for only one of 4 (rest 3 are like my elder sisters) and guess what I did develop feelings for the remaining 1 >.<
- Not a big deal but some people who didn't know us very well made some indecent comments on our closeness.

Have a number of close female friends, and the person I consider a best friend is a girl (I call her my "sister" even though we're not biological siblings). I hang out with a friend group which is very diverse: mixed in gender, nationality, etc.

In Japan, it's not unusual for a male to have a close female friend like this, and I've even gone out for dinner with female friends. It's not a "date", just two buddies hanging out.

For me the main pro is that women can be easier to talk about with some subjects: no need for chauvinism. Plus I feel like hanging out with my female friends helped me to not perceive the opposite gender as like an alien species.

The con for me is that some people mistook us for boyfriend and girlfriend.

I have a couple of really close guy friends. It's good because i can always go to them when i have questions about guys. i am not attracted to them and they have never tried to get in my pants. But cuddling with them sounds like a gross idea loll i had stayed with one of them in the same bedroom but not on the same bed and it wasn't awkward at all. One even refered to me as his thunder buddy lol I have gotten wasted with all of them and nothing happened. No psysical contact. Cons? My boyfriend found it weird but once i introduced him to them everything's good. I'm all for pure friendship with guys but if you're talking about harmless flirting kind of best friend I don't know sounds like drama to me lol

Pros: You can cuddle in a friend way and hug and stuff without it being weird, you can get a guy's perspective, less drama, less fights, he's protective over me, you have someone to walk with you at night...

Cons? You might fall in love.

Pros and cons depends on the type of friend (personality wise) that you surround yourself with. For me it is so many pros that I cannot think of where to start, and the cons are maybe 1 or 2 things; if not, none.

Someone will generally end up with feelings. What are you gonna do if someone ends up wanting a relationship with someone else?  Hopefully great sex without ties is the only pro

Pros: You can ask for sound advice about the opposite sex. I've found it easier to vent to my girl best friend than my guy friends. Like if you're in a bad mood a girl can help you get out of it more so than a guy. Less prone to getting in arguments.

Cons: If on the off-chance someone develop feelings for the other that might strain the friendship. I can't think of any other cons.
