I care about it so much, that any speck of betrayal is a stab to the chest, and back! I don't just open up to any and everybody like a naive child I was back then. But there is a reason why the Bible says about being careful of who you call your friends. However, as you get older, you have a lot of responsibilities on your plate. So only be friends with people who don't show toxic tendencies. If you can't handle those demands, then be as respectful as possible to let them know that you want to do those things, but it's too draining for you. Find other ways to show you, love, care and value your friends. If they are bad friends, they would cut you off and walk. Let them. God will separate you from people that aren't good for you. And keep the good ones close. Don't chase after them.
My friendship with people varries depending on the type of relationship I have with the certain person. If It's a close friend that I share similar values with, have gone though he'll and back with, made many fun memories with - I put great live and effort to maintaining the friendship. On the flipside of meaningful friendships, I do have friends that I simply just chill with for good times such as a several people from work or from community sports I involve myself in that I have met from my community centre.
Ask me this 2yrs ago and i would have said it didn't matter to me, i had been rejected as a friend so many times I was on the verge of giving up trying, but I amazingly found someone in my last attempts before i gave up, who is now more then a friend and its showed me how important it is to have at least one really strong friendship.
I have three wonderful people that I met all by chance. I became a paper delivery guy at the age of 14. A few days into delivering news papers, one of the clients, Michelle and her husband, Dennis had asked if I mow lawns. Another person I met by chance, Frank was not a client of the paper but a really sweet elderly amputee that happened to need help as well. All three of them have over the past twelve years have become part of my family.
I personally could careless for most of my friends, but it's always nice to have someone to talk to at school. So I'll treat them like how a friend would and they do the same. Providing loyalty, compassion, etc.

I have one true friend and I love her a lot, she's like a sister to me. She's the best friend I could ask for. We've been through a lot together, I value her and would be lost without her. I can tell her anything and she never judges me. I know that God put her in my life for a reason.
We lost her husband to cancer 4 years ago and I damn near lost her too. She wanted to kill herself, thank God she didn't. I need her in my life and she needs me.
It really depends on if you click, or not.
I have some friends that I just hang out with, but I have one friend that I can tell anything, and everything to. If he was having a rough time I would WANT to be there for him because he is someone that I care deeply about, and think of him as an older brother.
I think if you find a friend that you click with you will feel differently.
I do not care about having many "friends" or just somebody to go out with. But I do value friendship because real friendship is very very rare and if you find your soulmate you should appreciate that and hold onto that person. Everything that is worthy takes effort, so does friendship. You can learn a lot from being aroung someone.
I have one friend I’ve know since kindergarten. A few others I’ve know for over 20 years and a few online ones. I do value and care for my friends. I’m not a good friend to just anyone. I have some friends that call and I ignore because I just don’t feel like talking. The ones I talk to I like. Otherwise I’m a horrible friend.
Only with very specially selected friends. I give my time and effort only to the most worthy of people to avoid wasting it on people who don't deserve it.
