What are common reasons for friendships to fall apart?

I had 2 friendships that had to end.
I was in a toxic friendship where she had her nice and helpful moments but also really rude ones. She always tried to boss me around so this "friendship" ended after highschool.
The second one was my best friend as a kid. She lives in the same building as me so we lived really close to each other. However as we grow older her arttitude changed dramatically. Drugs, fuckboys all over the place and violent behavior. I tried but couldn't help her so we lost track of each other.

Do you have more reasons why friendship could fall apart or any experience why you had to end a friendship?

One person changes, and the other one doesn't, or they both end up going in different directions, and no longer have anything in common.

Sometimes it's just insecurity. I had a friend in grade school and middle school. I was kind of socially backward at the time and wasn't talking to girls, so he would no longer be friends with me because he assumed I was gay, or something. He not only ended our friendship, he also felt the need to be an asshole to me as well. I never spoke to him again after that.

Not serious friendships but many people were not so helpfull when I thought about where I want my life going. If the 5 closest people to you provide no value in you growing to become a better person or drive you forward, there´s no point in being friends. Ofc we all need party companions and people we can just chill with, but that kind of "Yolo" doesn´t take you anywhere in life.

Jealous friends and people who are using your kindness should be cut from your life asap.

For me it's usually due to physically moving apart so we aren't going through the same things in life together, when our interests/values and views drastically change due to life events, when we meet friends who don't mesh well with our or their personal lifestyles and lastly when our personal busy life schedules don't correspond well to meet up/catch up with each other.

In my experience, most of my friendships faded because they just didn’t care.

Paul treated his old friends like dust after he got a girlfriend. Sam: “My studies are more important”. Clem only contacts me when she needs help from me, after that “Message seen at...”.

Mostly I lost two of friends due to girls. First was in love with one girl which he never mentioned to me and was in doubt that I talk to her and hides from him. He never confirmed it from me but trusted the people who were not supposed to be trusted. And hence raised the conflict finally ending with friendship. Second came out to be we both fell for same girl again no one informed each other but girl was dating both.

Lies, boyfriend/girlfriend over you, distance, one way street. Sometimes you just grow apart and then a friendship is more upkeep than it is worth. There are a lot of reasons why a friendship could end. Sometimes more violently and more abrupt and less friendly than other times.

After they meet a guy who's an A hole. This one girl was my bestest friend ever. We hung our everyday and pretty much grew up together. Every time she got a boyfriend she would stop talking to me completely and be silent and ditch me. She met the last guy who she then married and moved away and stopped talking to me. There's a lots of reasons a friend ship might end. Sometimes 2 different people don't have the same interests and start hanging with people who do or maybe the friends no longer are on the same level.
