Am I the only one who doesn’t like dogs?

Question

I don’t like dogs. I don’t hate them and would never hurt any animal. I’m against any kind of violence.. just don’t understand how people are so crazy about dogs. They smell even if you tKe good care of them... they are attention seekers clingy and honestly I feel like they are way overrated. Good for people who need that “unconditional love” , needy people who need them to fulfill a feeling of loneliness to say the least LOL (yeah you think dogs love you because they don’t talk what they really think, also because they DEPEND ON YOU)

am I the only one who thinks that’s way out there? Please let me know if there’s anyone out there who is still sane!

That's the same thinking people associate with babies. Maybe you just have had bad experiences with dogs. Personally, I love animals in general. I have a beautiful border collie. She's my baby. She does depend on me, that's very true, but so would a child. That child would depend on me for about 17-25 years. Which is about 2x the lifespan of a dog. They can't speak our language and they prefer for you to use body language rather than speak to them. They smell purely because their fur is like our hair. Our hair smells if it has been affected by an outside force (which obviously happens), but not to the extent that their fur does. Their fur is what makes contact with the outside before our hair ever would. My dog doesn't bother me often unless she needs to pee, wants some body rubs, wants to play or she's hungry. Otherwise she's about doing her own thing or she's laying with me. Dogs all have their own personalities just like we do. A lot of the times though, they take after their owners.
You aren't insane for thinking the way you do, and we aren't insane for liking dogs. We're all different and we all like different things. To each their own.

I don't know, I don't like pets in general due to their messes and money used to care for them. I like to invest my time and money into making my house into the best house it can be.

I think so. I mean i know my aunt doesn't really like mine, but she still lets me bring him over and what not. They do smell but as a dog owner you get use to it, and your whole house won't smell like dog if you're up on their bathing and using wall flowers/candles like you would even if you didn't have a pet. Dogs are sweet because they are so cute and when they are vicious its not them it truly is how they were raised aka their owner. It is such a responsibility to have a dog because they're not like babies, they will depend on you for the next 12 years+. SO while I dont think you're the only one that doesn't like dogs, most people do!

I agree people love there dogs so much that smores they take it too far case and point Alyssa Rosales we all remember that sick facebook post she made way back when its still sick. like i like dogs but cats and other animals a cool to why are dogs the only one that gets so much attention ya know

TBH, I feel exactly the same way. I would never hurt one, or allow them to be hurt, but they do nothing for me, and I *hate* being followed. My ex left her dog behind, and I can't just get rid of him, but I'd pay a $1,000 if I could non-punitively stop him from following me everywhere I go.

First, by your logic, people wouldn't own any animals at all. Most of the behaviors you describe (and smells) are evident in all pets (except maybe a pet rock).

Next, all animals are attention seekers. Even cats. Mostly when they want food.

Your assessment of a dog owner is also condescending and insulting, and not really specific to dogs, but any animal. It may not be for you, but that's no reason to disrespect people just because you don't understand them.

Generally speaking, a relationship between a human and a dog is a 2-way street. When you want affection, they'll give it to you, and vice versa. With a cat, it's you as the slave to the animal's whims. You spend a lot of money, time, and effort with a pet, you want that reciprocated. A dog will do that. A bird will do that. A rat or ferret will do that. Very few cats will do that.

Look up the evolution of dogs. They were wolves that developed a mutually beneficial relationship with us. We provided food, they provided protection. The friendlier dogs were preferred, so they were treated better and more likely to breed. Dogs evolved to be our best friends.

I think some are cute while others are dull and boring. However a dog is a lot of responsibility. I think caring for them is the fun part though. To know you have this little critter who is completely dependent on you and needs you.
