How do I tell my boyfriend I have no friends?

I never really had that group of close friends everybody seems to have . I had friends over the years but no one ever stick around . The truth is I might hang out with a few people but I really do not have friends . I only have a close friend but we don't hang out that often like maybe once a month . He wants to meet my friends like I meet his but I don't know how to tell him this and he thinks I don't introduce him because I'm ashamed or something and this is ruining our relationship.

I am in the exact same position as you, except I'm a guy (as you can see) and I don't have a girlfriend. I have no friends either. I never had that close group of friends that always stuck by each other and were there for each other. I only have this one close girl friend in uni and one close guy friend out of uni that I talk to sometimes but as people get older their lives become busier so we stared drifting apart already. And, like you, I will occassionlly get together with a few not-so-close friends but it's nothing special. Hell, if we didn't even meet up once a month I doubt they would even remember me. Uni is supposed to be one of the greatest periods of your life. But I just go into uni to go to my lectures, do my work, study in the library and go home. All by myself everyday. But enough about me, I'm here to answer your question.

What I would like to say is you should not be ashamed of this. I mean, just because you don't have any friends that does not change who you are as a person. I'm pretty sure your boyfriend did not choose you to be his girlfriend by judging you on how many and the type of friends you have. He chose you to be his girlfriend because he likes you for YOU, he doesn't like you for your friends. If my girfriend told me she didn't have any friends I wouldn't think any less of her at all. I wouldn't even think differently of her. I will be glad she told me the truth instead of trying to make up stories. Also, relationships are based on trust and honesty. You might as well tell him the truth instead of twisting a bunch of stories and ending up in a tangled web of lies. And you should not even lie in the first becase this is not a big issue to lie about. It's a minor issue and if your boyfriend does not feel comfortable with the fact that you have no friends then maybe you should think about whether he is the kind of guy you wanna be with.

Anyways, please just tell him straight up that you don't have any friends. He will appreciate it more and I promise you it will not ruin your relationship with him.

I'm like that as well, especially having been moving out of my country and moving back. In my case, abeit my quiet personality, circumstances are as such. Close friends are hard to come by sometimes. I have like one high-school friend that I consider my best friend but she doesn't talk to me as much since i"ve moved away for so long. She has her own family and a kid now and I occassionally meet up with her for lunch to catch up and that's it. Because of my personality I tend to click with guys who aren't that sociable too. The current guy I am dating is also abit asocial so he understands. I do hang out in an interest group so I intend to bring him along to that some time. Relationships are about built on a foundation of honesty, he has to accept you for who you are. You mentioned that you hang out with a few people maybe you could take him with you to meet them?

I don't really have friends either. They're just acquaintances at uni or friends of the family

We're not at the stage of meeting each others friends but when we are I'm going to totally freak.
