How do you escalate a friendship / acquaintance relationship to actually dating the person?

I'm writing this now because I recently just started at a University, and can't help but notice there are some very attractive girls in my classes, I'm practically interested in all of them. My ongoing problem is though, how do I start out with a woman (who lets assume is a stranger or acquaintance in class) with her knowing that I'm interested in her in a DATING sort of way and not just a FRIEND way (which always is the case with me.) I don't want to go out there with a cheesy line and look like a fool, and often I just don't know what to say or even when to say it to the women I'm interested in. Please, I'm tired of being single already, clue me in. Thanks!

If its someone in class you like ask them questions about class. Get to know them, then ask them on a date. Just don't ask them on a date directly that would be a turn off you'll seem desperate. Don't wait too long to ask them on a date, cause then you'll get into the friendzone. If its a stranger someone at the grocery store, a nice line usually works. I can't help but notice you from over there. You have amazing eyes, etc. Just don't say something about the girls outfit cause then the girl will think you just wanna get in her pants. Don't say something cheesy cause then she'll think your a dork. Be respectful don't just say Hey! cause then she'll think your a jerk. Hope this helps, I'm sure with your looks you'll get someone soon.

Thanks! One quick question on that, when you say 'ask them out on a date', do you mean basically ask her like 'do you want to go to this resturaunt with me this evening?' or do I up and say 'hey, do you want to go on a date with me?'

"Do you want to go to this restaurant with me this evening?" sounds better
