My parents don't let dress how I want outside, help?

I have a bit of an alternative style, nothing too extreme. my parents let me dress how I want when I'm with them or with an adult, or like in a small village or that kind of stuff, but not alone where I live. I can dress vaguely alternative like all in black with normal makeup but not more than that. I'm tired of having to change outside, and take makeup off before coming home and all that, and it just would be easier if they let me do that all the time so help.
What they don't allow me to do outside (maybe can do a case by case thing, that's why I'm listing them): heavy eyeliner, colorful hair extensions, tiaras/cat ears (ik that one is a little weird), studded belts, ripped jeans (that are more than just a few ripped), knee high stripped socks, teasing my hair too much, things that are too "edgy" (stuff related to self harm, suicide, depression that kinda thing. by that I mean, suicidal tendencies band shirt, razor blade necklace, a tshirt that says 'all i did today was just survive" that kind of stuff)

Because they don't want people thinking you are suicidal with the obvious suicidal style you are sporting. It's one thing to be wearing "scene" clothes but if you are broadcasting "I'm depressed and want to die" with the clothing you are wearing, that is a problem.

have you talked to them explain how this makes you feel and have them explain how they feel about it.

sometimes that can help but at ur age gonna be hard to win that battle.

I have yea. my mom is like 'I understand, you can dress like that but toned down or else it's scary, people can pick on you, it looks like you have low self esteem, you'll attract predators because of it, it's shocking, exc..". it's just the clothes she minds though. not be being "alternative". and my dad thinks I look like a freak and that he's scared I'll get addicted to drugs, be a lowlife, exc.. because of it (but he doesn't have an input in my clothes, it's my mom who decides).

They let you dress as you want to while at home. That is enough. You will be an adult soon. Once you are paying for rent, do what you want.
