he still answers when you call and replies to your texts and helps you whenever you need him... he just doesn't initiate contact anymore.

first I would think he has some problem or something happened that annoyed him...so I would try to start talking and ask him to explain me what is happened or if I did something wrong, or I if I can help him with anything

then if conversation doesn't reach us to any point and even after that he keeps not texting me...i would think he is probably tooo busy...maybe he got into a relationship or something...so I would try to send him texts or ask him to do me something lessssssssss...coz I don't want to interrupt him when he has no interest to text me or even ask me how I am doing!

umm actually all it meant was that out of all the answers I got I liked yours the best. I'm a pretty simple guy like that. but thanks for the bluejay. ;)

I'd be hurt, disappointed and let down that he stopped making the effort to keep in touch with me. In addition, if he had an issue with me or the friendship, I would hope he would give me a chance to rectify it. If he just decided to terminate the friendship, again, I'd rather he just tell me so I wouldn't wonder wtf happened. I'd be respectful, back off and let him do whatever he needed to.

I am a very logical thinker. If he is my best friend and he stops initiating contact then there is a root to it. He might just be replying out of courtesy and to be polite. Anytime someone deviates from the 'norm' then my suspicions will be aroused. I would still feel like there is an issue with me, the friendship, something has changed etc. I'd still be deeply hurt.

what would be the reason from a guys POV of why a guy would do that to his female friend? Is he bored of her, or reckons she digs him so he is backing off? or he really cares for her and scared of how to act?

I'll feel I'm not interesting no more to him. And that he really doesn't care about me or thinks about me. I'll kinda feel annoying too cause I'll be the one that initiates the conversation. I'll probably leave him alone.

I would be really upset with him and call him out on it.

I would probably stop talking to him in return because I felt like he was being extremely rude.
