For me : At the moment associates work for me due to my extremely busy life with work, school, trying to get my finances in line. But once school is over I definitely prefer to have both.

I like having friends, but I only have a few Friends... Every one else is an Associate or Acquaintance. Here's why:

I consider a "friend" someone You see as a good influence. Someone You would want to be more like. Chances are, the longer You hang out with someone, the more like them you'll become... With that said, most of the people I life with and see often are people I DO NOT look up to, or even really admire.

'Associates' work together from and for an objective in common.
Military operations are a prime example.
You DON'T have to 'like' your fellow soldier, but...
under specific potentially- high risk circumstances, you count UPON One another
from MUTUAL interest.

'Friends' voluntarily interact, finding pleasure in shared common interests AND VALUES. Ancestrally, Humans are 'troup' animals, intuitively forming hierarchies around survival.

Not lonely at all. I get to enjoy the company and get rid of people when they annoy me. Easier than friendships where you dont know how to tell someone to go away and come back later. I get advice from associates. I enjoy traveling alone. I give/get tea from randoms lol

I'll admit when I dealt with bad dating experiences I wanted a close girlfriend to confide in or take me out to get my mind off shit. So that part was lonely for me. Other than that I agree with you 100% cause I dont like people popping up, forcing me to go out when I dont feel like it, blowing up my phone. I had a girl I was cool with was going to make her my friend but she called me 3-4x a day. Like wtf for what?🤣 . Then came out here with her friend and tried to force me to stop whatever I had planned to hand with her. I got tired of her.

Well in high school i was all open for friends. But the little backstabbing hoes made moves on my man. Then in college, they kept trying to go for the guys i was into. I can't trust people like that. And he guy friends throw you away when their new girlfriend says so. So yea i just stopped caring to have friends after that. Associates was enough

Wooooww that was my experience too. Thats why I dont get close to people anymore. It would be cool to have at least 1 real ass homegirl but im over it now. Associates it is. Yep guys do that

Depends on how you define the terms. "Friend" can be defined in a way so that you are lucky if you have one true friend. That means everyone else would be an associate or acquaintance.

Friends are there for you in the good and bad times and will tell you to your face if your making a stupid decision. Associates are only there for the good times, and you automatically feel uncomfortable asking anything from them
