While conversing why does he avoid looking in my eyes/making eye contact, and looks rather at the other person sitting right next to me?

While it was me who initiated the conversation and he was replying to me in detail, but he kept looking at person beside me but didn't make eye contact with me.

There is honestly too little information to really be able to help.
Here is what I read. You started a convo with a guy you like and while he stayed engaged in the conversation enough to give detailed responses he was visually more interested in things around him.
So, what I see are basically three options:
1. The topic of conversation made him nervous talking directly to you.
2. He is not interested in you in the way you want at the moment. If this is a guy you've known for a while and want to push into something serious make sure you aren't friend zoned and that he knows he isn't.
3. He is playing a crush on you off as disinterested. This depends on your ages and his experience.

Bottom line is this, if you are interested in this guy and you are stuck wondering where he stands on it. Ask. I know this is insanely difficult but most of the time it's a lot better to just be brave and say 'Hey, I like you a lot' and get your answer.

If that isn't an option, come back with more detail. Time you've known each other, general age ranges, where you were during this conversation and what it was about. Maybe with more clues we can help narrow it down from a 50/50. But as it stands, you are either a friend or a secret crush, both will probably require you making the first obvious move.

He might have anxiety or be nervous or speak better without the eye contact.
I'm actually the same way especially when attracted to the person, as I get more comfortable i'm able to make eye contact though it takes awhile

How do I know did he do that out of just anxiety or because he likes me?

If he stutters or talks slowly it's probably anxiety. Also if his face gets red lol
Sometimes it's easy to tell if a person has anxiety, they will not like crowded places/loud places/scared to order food etc.

But he did look in the eyes of girl next to me while he was actually relying to my question.. what is this? Not anxiety alone for sure.. If he could look in her eyes he could have looked in my eyes too! and we didn't meet for first time, we know each other since six months roughly

How many times have you met up in person? Has he acted like this all the time
It still could be anxiety, if i see an unattractive guy i'm more comfortable and can look him in the eyes.
Also do you talk on facetime, surely he would look at you then

He used to make a normal eye contact but then something happened and he stopped looking me in eyes and once even stuttered while talking to me.. after that once he did give me a lot of eye contact, but yesterday again he avoided looking in my eyes.. I don't know what's this

I think it would be okay to ask him if he has anxiety, if he asks why you could say sometimes you feel anxious around him because he doesn't make eye contact
