If you go to your high school reunions you will probably notice people who have died after 50-60 years after graduation. That is normal even though you don't like to see your friends go.

Been to me 50th a couple years ago. President of the class died a while back already! The people arranging the venue had a "tribute table" to those who had died. The kid I mentioned died while still IN high school. Dad had polio, got it just before vaccine came out. Mom was so sweet a lady, didn't deserve this.

Ride Like the Wind , was his best song. A guy I played little league with , was dragged by a cow and hit his head on something and died. I guess I just accepted it. The guy that worked at a local gas stop that I went in a lot , just dropped dead and he was younger than me. It was sort of a shock. However, almost all of my family is now dead , so I kind of gotten used to it. Of course my little Chico died and that was toughest so far.

Erm no, you have a guy out in Afghanistan and you are in Scotland, they get hit by an IED and die or suffer huge trauma.

You have an aircraft on a different Squadron crash and pilot killed.

You have a mate out on his motorbike on leave in Germany, has a head on with an overtaking car.

A guy you have not chatted to for about 6 years takes a shot gun to his head and plasters his bran over the wall for his wife and teen daughter to find the next day.

You have someone else you joined up with leaves the Forces, and suffers from PTSD and after 10 years, has had enough and hangs himself (both the US and UK have huge Vet suicide rates).

Didn't know you were in the military from what it sounds. According to a report published by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in 2016, which analyzed 55 million veterans' records from 1979 to 2014, the current analysis indicates that an average of 20 veterans die from suicide per day. That is totally sad and it shows just haw badly the VA sucks.

Yeah same in the UK, pre lockdown as part of Couple charities we went to about 20 funerals, over lockdown thst increased to 60

When I was a soldier, I watched more than one friend die.
A close friend who did something stupid was facing prison time, so he took an overdose.
Other friends have died in various ways. One friend, who was gay, died of AIDS two months ago.
