But anyways, how would you have handled this?
The mom and her child's problems. Polite way to cut her off or hear her out?
But anyways, how would you have handled this?
You say patient's mom. So, I assume you are a medical professional. You've got other patients to attend to and loads of paperwork. You're not there to chat. So, it's appropriate to say you're busy and leave.
Right, like my shift is over lady. I dont wanna hear about all your daughters flipping medical issues and how you have to pay out of pocket because medicaid has cut back. This child was born like this so she knew better. She could've had an abortion but she didn't so she's gotta live with it. I'm not her personal therapist.
Oh, well. The ladies just venting. But once you've gotten any pertinent procedures, tests and medical discussions out of the way. It's perfectly acceptable to excuse yourself. Some people may not like it. Most understand medical staff are generally overburdened with patients and can't chat.
She needs a therapist 🤣
Definitely.
She needs a therapist, if she wants to vent
Exactly, my shift is over. I come to work, get paid, and go home. Trying to talk about her child's issues once I clock out doesn't interest me.
Yup, if she is looking for solutions, she should find a person who deals with these topics in their profession

It saddens me that you think so little of human life. Many of us realize our obligations and do what is right. I don't know why you chose this field but I'll guess it was just for the money and not to help others? 😞💔
Who cares. I'm off the clock she can save it for a therapist
Who cares
" you can simply say you have an appointment or something somewhere and leave."
You finally answered the question. Now was that hard?
A lot of medical professionals lack the empathy required to be in the field. If you're gonna state things like "she should've had an abortion" then you need a different line of work. You're just like all the horrid professionals I've encountered in the psychiatry wards.
Go back to the psych ward you belong to. I can see by your response they're not finished with you. Take your meds kid
Didn't say I was a patient. I work in psychiatry.
Nah kid I'm convinced you live there adios 🤪 crazy
Your tone and ableism just proves my point.
Who cares 🤣
Why not just send her to a social worker? Or pretend your phone is ringing or something?
That's the thing.. she has a social worker!!!
