Careful, they'd gotta prove themselves in a moment of truth when their colors are shown. Usually it's that very best friend to be quickest to talk shit about you outside of your presence, take your things, sleep with your boyfriend/girlfriend, rush to get the jump on you for a promotion...,...
Was hanging out with a "friend" at his house once, we went to sit outside and have some beers. Within minutes four Mexicans showed up, I don't know what they were saying but knew they sounded disgruntled. Turns out they came to throw him a beatin I realized as one made a lousy attempt at a roundhouse kick that fell short. So I dropped my beer and took a stance to draw their attention so my bud could collect himself. Once the dust settled after I got pummeled I started looking around in the dark thinking my guy was laying somewhere when his door opened a crack with his face in it asking if they were gone saying the cops were e route. WTF, the chain was latched, mf ran inside and locked the door and left me hanging to fend for myself.
Let another use my car , he bailed and ran when a cop u-turned to chase him. Impounded, was everything to convince the cop I had to speak with before they'd release it that it wasn't me cuz I never told. Four days , no ride so I picked up yet another friend in my truck to have him follow me home in my car... 15min after getting it out he turned in front of another car and got mine totaled before saying he had no license. (I didn't ask since he drove a delivery van at work) Sorry bout ya, see ya I gotta go.
Neither lifted a finger to make it right.
I can go on n on But just remember, before you jump in front of that bus for someone, wait just a sec... They just might shove you.

I don't have a best friend anymore but what I liked about a former best friend of 16 years was that she was always there for me - I could count on her to be interested in my life and happiness in the same way I could count on the sun to shine in the morning. The level of understanding we have. Even as far as elementary school my friends where people that had messed up childhoods. The reasons why our childhoods where messed up did vary quite a bit. But we all grew up quick and seen how screwed up life can be in one way or another. Also it easy to trust each other. Because in on way or another we new how ugly life can be and wanted to ensure none of us seen it again.

My dad is my best friend. He's never betrayed me and always tried to protect me and make sure I never went hungry as a child. And he tries to listen to my emotional problems even though he's a goddamn boomer male aka emotional stone wall. But he's slowly softening up a bit.

Resolution has been easy for years now that we got to this place.

Well, if we’re talking about guys, my guys friends joke about in manly ways we talk about the girls we like. Some of my best guy friends are going to be my future groomsmen and one will be my best man.
