Did your parents used to use a belt, shoe, switch, etc when you misbehave. I got whoopins sometimes but I got to the point where I could avoid them

I pride myself over the fact that neither did my parents ever hit me nor did I ever give them a situation where they were forced to.
I've been scolded quite a few times but never anything major.
They actually taught me and helped me build my own sense of right and wrong. Instead of teaching by fear of getting hit, they took the time to nurture me and I thank them for that cause that made me the person I am today.

Yes and thank god. I credit my "whoppins" with why me and my brother are not in jail, not working at McDonalds and didn't turn out to be some kind of Soy Boy Nancy motherfuckers. Both of us had some wild streaks when we were young and dad fixed that even though he hated doing it. We both grew up and finished college and have stable marriages, which is not to say we don't have any problems, quirks, etc.
