Any of you had a family member or friend come out as transgender?

Did you see it coming or was it total shock? How well did the transition go as far as their passability and happiness?

Pretty much all the trans people I know were already out and in transition before I met them.
Pretty much all of them it worked out well for. Two of them, though, put on these phony girly voices when, in my opinion, they really didn't need to. Another one I lived with for a few years would've NEVER been able to pass!! The guy was over 6' tall, built like a bear, had a VERY deep voice and a slow lumbering walk, was a real slob (he was a janitor at the local huge University and other guys that worked with him complained that, after he cleaned up a site, they had to clean up after him!!) and he looked like a couple steps up from the original Frankenstein's monster! (Huge brow, very sunken eyes that looked like they were always black from being punched and he had grey hair because he smoked like a chimney but, he was only in his 30's or 40's!) From what I understand, he actually got the sex change and then decided it wasn't for him!

Come to think of it, there were a bunch of them I met online at BreastNexus. com that were just starting out. Most were just guys that wanted to grow their tits but a number of them were just starting to go trans, too.
I've heard a few stories of the trouble trans people had to go through before crossing over. One of my best friends used to get beat up, shunned by all but her older brother, etc..
I really don't (for the most part) see why people are so dead set against this! It's not like trans people are forcing THEM to go trans, too!! They're NOT doing it JUST to be able to look at the privates of others in the locker room or bathroom!!

I know as long as they aren’t bothering anyone. I don’t see the big deal. I live in a populated but conservative area and I haven’t heard or met anyone trans but wouldn’t bother me.

Well, that same friend, Carla, hadn't had her bottom done by the time I met her and she also got implants at the same time but, she'd been on hormones for quite a while and already had a set of B cups. So, technically, I knew her before she completely transitioned.

My best friend is trans but I met him after he discovered and started transitioning. However, my partners good friend just came out as trans not that long ago, neither of us were very shocked she was always quite androgynous so the only thing that's really changed is her names and pronouns.

Yes my cousin. I only know about this in whole family as he trusts me only. He is scared to tell others. It isn't something bad and try my best to make him feel it's completely normal. I wasn't shocked as I kind of expected that by his behavior.

Pretty sad I’m socially liberal but fiscally conservative as long as someone isn’t bothering anyone else and a contributing member of society. Let people do their thing.

He is planning to tell his parents after he starts earning so that risks of disowning reduce. I'm not joking. People literally disown their kids here when they come to know that their kids are transgender.

I've had 2 former coworkers.

One has transitioned prior to us meeting. Another transitioned after I knew them. Both were female to male.
