Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI dislike hugs, even more so post-ish pandemic. I like my personal space and I may really like my friends, but I'd prefer just to say hi and not hug them. Some of them get this, others persist in wanting to hug me which I find uncomfortable. It's not for lack of love either, my parents were big on hugs growing up, but it's just not me.

u +1 ysome of them, yes... because they're big time huggers so those are genuine
how often? well, every time I see them... lol, and a couple of them girls are very cuddly so there's that
besides that... there are some times in which I just can tell they need a hug so I just do that without asking or telling, sometimes they just need that, other times they want to talk about it as well, so we do...30 Reply
I don't hug male friends. It seems gay to me and I don't like it. I only hug female friends if they have initiated a hug with me first before and I normally do a side hug for most of them. If I was in a relationship it would be limited to side hugs only.

Whether here in the U. S. or back in the Philippines, men hugging fellow-men is not too common. And looking back, hugs with my female-friends were rare. And these days, I keep distance (physical & otherwise) from all non-family, so "no" seems the best response here.20 ReplyI hug both my women and close guy friends. Not on every meeting, but certainly when we haven't seen each other for "a while". There's nothing sexual about it. Just an expression of the warmth I feel for them.

+1 yI did in my teens as a young student in uni but stopped when I got older cause when your older, people donβt instantly trust you or feel nurturing feelings towards you, so they might not welcome hugs from you.
