How are your texting skills?

Question

I just learned that there are rules about texting and apparently I'm a terrible texter. I'm so sorry. Are you a good texter? A bad texter? What makes a good/bad texter? Does it bother you if someone is multitasking? Should the person say they are too busy to text and set time aside in their day to tap out some messages?  For me, it's the same as leaving a message. I'll tap out a text and assume the recipient will reply when they can. I do the same. Just leave messages.  Do you feel like the conversation needs to keep going as though you were in person? Help!!!

It’s not bad tbh, I tend to view it was ‘answer when you get a chance, it’s okay if you don’t’ sort of thing.

my greatest problem is group etiquette on WhatsApp.

i have about 8 different groups on WhatsApp

lets say
Car group
mountain biking group
walking group
shooting group
family
work

now say Tony messages me and he’s in the car group, I reply their, that’s easy.

however if he’s also asked a question in the shooting group I may reply with answer to his car group question and shooting one in the shooting chat. The reply about the car stuff now confuses everyone else as they are not part of the car group.

now some people are in say 4 groups and then you have private chats with group members.

other than that it’s fine

Dont send two texts, it will make you look desperate. If you are texting someone from another country, mind their timezone. Dont wait for the answer, it might take hours. Use emojis, they clarify your feelings. And try to respond as you can, some people really hate waiting

Generally pretty good tbh I think. I always respond fast as if I’m online (which I usually am) I don’t see the point in waiting also hate seeing notifications of unread messages or seen messages in my inbox

As for actually holding a conversation then it depends. If it’s a friend I’m close to them pretty good although I’m one of those to prefer sending a few short texts at one rather than one long paragraph (ironic from my gag answer lol) but strangers I can’t really hold a convo besides basic stuff

Only bad thing is I type fast and cba to check spelling errors so half of what I write you can’t actually read lol

Mine suck well sometimes they do sometimes to do so tell me what are the things to do and things not to do because I have no idea what that is well I do know some of the things I just did it right here in this whole paragraph that please tell me so I to learn if I'm doing it right or wrong

I would have to consider myself a horrible texter. I text people then something pops up and I forget to text back. I didn't even know there was a certain way to text lol. This why I prefer old school way talk over the phone. I have ADHD so I attended to forget to reply back lol.

I very rarely ever text on my cell pone. have a flip phone and you have to text character by character. It is very tedious. I use a keyboard when I text people on GaG. I usually do it while I m watching TV but I try to pay attention to whoever I am texting.
I like having live conversations with people but it is okay if they want to do it piecemeal.

I've no idea really if my etiquette is ok, I mean sometimes I'll have conversations with people over a few days because were both busy and we get to the messages when we have time. If someone starts a new conversation and I'm too busy to get into it, I'll often use the automated, "busy at the moment text you later" feature on my phone or watch.
One thing I'm terrible at is typing on a phone as I have gorilla fingers 🤣

My texting isn't bad, I have no idea if it follows all the rules. I generally use a combination of full words and sentences, with shorter abbreviations built in.
