Guys, would you mind if your wife uses your direct name as her last name?

For example, your name is Lemuel Ray. Lemuel is your name and Ray is your surname. Will you mind if she chooses to answer your own name instead of your surname?

This is because I intend to answer his own name and not his family or surname. For example, Elizabeth Lemuel. But I have not discussed it with him yet. Please let me know what you think.

I wouldn't. In my culture some women rake the husband's first name as their last name. Even the children use their father's first name as their surname.

Your update - a long running family line isn't wrong, as long as it has ''honour'' or positive associations.
''My'' own records (Mom's side) go back some 600something years, and there's nothing to be ashamed of; well... except for the one guy who stole one of his Dad's ships and joined the British pirates (some time around 15hundred-and-a-little)
And then... my father's ancestors didn't contribute too much; and before my grandfather it's not known under which stones they lived :D
So - 50/50 in my case.
