How do your male and female friendships differ?

Question

I have both male and female friends but overtime I noticed that I do have significant differences in my male and female friendships.

For example, I have more guy friends but closer female friends aka even though they are fewer in number they are much closer to me than my guy friends. My female friends are a very close circle that know each other and we tend to have gatherings and we have many things in common that we bond over, so it's a more group situation with my girl friends. My guy friends are all over the place, they don't know each other but may may be aware about each other only if I talk about one of them to the other, I talk to them on a more individual level having one-on-one conversations. From personal experience I'm miserable in a group of boys I just can't fit in whereas with women I socialize much better in groups if they are like-minded and I have less individual interactions with women.

So yeah I observed these differences in my personal life. What about you?

Hmm, I am the opposite, I got mostly male friends in my life including very close ones, and female friends were never that close but mostly all over the place and distant.
Your case is for sure more common, but both me and you have selected their circle of friends, made "groups" and stuff because of finding people who are like-minded and have interests in common. This is my case with guys as I have a masculine/tecnical mentality and that lead me to have interests and hobbies that usually are quite male-only sectors (mostly technical such as coding, so my male friends are more on the nerd side, and have that type of humor, too).
When, the rare times, I hang out with females, of any age, we never fit, but also don't argue: just it's like if I'm a guy friend, trustable, but from another planet (I met a woman in the morning by the way, who makes no exception).
So it's not much about how frienships "are meant to be" between genders but it's all determined by the people you spontaneously gather with, due to your compatibilities. So we can say that in most of cases, also (and I would say: mostly) due to education received, same-gender friendships are more compatible.
If you think about it, there isn't just a division between genders but also type of people and how their mindset is: would you have a "group" situation and stuff with, let's say, girls of your same age but from a strict religious group from another country? Or women who are 45 years old? Or girls who go to rave parties? Metalhead girls? Gamer girls? Very countrysider-minded girls? And so on... Likely, regarding some other types of girl you're not compatible with, you'd have them all over the place and not closer to you, just like your guy friends... So it's all about compatibility and matching needs. You'll always gather with people who are more similar to you, naturally. Your guy friends have probably their "group" situation too (even just online) but you don't know them.

Mmm.. i think the only difference is that I'm more physically affectionate with my female friends. We can sit on each other's laps and cuddle.
As with my guy friends, although nothing romantic is intended a lot of them are married or in relationships. So there are more boundaries with my male friends single or not.

Its understandable cuz they are different genders biologically hardwired to express distinct emotions and it would opposite for men, like I tend to have a lot of male friends and few female friends due variety of reasons.
Males tend to have higher tolerance and different kind of humour, where we can say outrageous things to each other and don't get tooo personal with someone, like knowing absolutely everything about him... I don't even know my friend, best food, song or even stupid color and we know eachother for 22 years.
The story is different with my female friends... where they express whole spectrum of emotions and tend to be nosy about personal stuff, if you try to draw a boundary then they through tantrums around and tend to take it personally. From my experience majority of females tend to use guys like their boyfriend for stuff but provide zero value in return.
That being said I have few best female friends apart from immediate family... that I can trust with anything cuz they have literally defended me physically from other females and one of them become my G. F later in life.
I believe you need balance in life and this whole "Male and female can't be friends" is stupid statement people tend to through around a lot.

I tend to invite the extremities for some reason. So my male friends tend to be really gung-ho, a bit chauvinistic, brash, rowdy, and we like to clash beers and arm wrestle.

Meanwhile, my female friends tend to be quite empathetic, sensitive to others, and tend to listen very carefully and intently.

I tend to enjoy both in my own ways. I have lots of fun with the guys at a party being a bunch of dumb guys talking about girls and arm wrestling. Yet when I start getting a bit tired of that, I might head to the edge of the party (say the balcony) and find a very soulful and intimate conversation with one of my female friends. Then I might rejoin the guys and we can take turns punching each other in the arm for fun.

I have nore guy friends then female friends but I have a few very close friends and they are both men and women. I will say that the major differences I notice is that the activities that we do change if I hang out with only male friends, or only female friends. For example, I'm more likely to go out to a bar or casino if I'm with only guy friends and were more likely to go see a movie or go get dinner and drinks if I'm with my female friends. I'm sure there are other differences as well but if you're looking for a different type or response or if you have any wisdoms just let me know.

They don't. Everyone gets equal treatment from me. Not the same treatment but equal treatment. People are not cookie cutter and you can't treat them that way. People are not tribute to you. I mean if I call a person "friend", and not many people earn that term with me. It's not just because we have shared interests it's because I genuinely care about them and want the best for them.

I have found over time that female friends have more compassion and can be more supportive. Guys on the other hand rarely like a deep subject, ex. sports, guns and politics. Conversations with guys are so predictable. I have known many ladies who It would have been nice to just have pie and coffee with and chat. Being married that doesn't happen.

I only have a few guy friends. I've always connected with girls easier, and I'm not sure why. But I enjoy both. I'm not sure if there is a greater difference to be found in my friendships
