Are adoptive, foster or stepmothers also included on Mother's Day?

This includes to:
- Women unable to have biological kids so they adopted a child
- Foster mother rescuing an abused child and raising him/her as her own child
- One's mother dies and a loving stepmother is a mother figure to them, etc

Are those women also consider mother? Does that count too? Are they included on Mother's Day?

A “mother” is not limited to just the ability to give birth/have her own children. That is not what makes a mother, a mother.

Just because a woman could not give birth or have her own children, DOES NOT mean that she is not a mother. A mother/mom is someone who has raised a child and takes on a “mother’s” role for a child.

I know so many amazing mothers/moms who couldn’t have their own children, have fostered or adopted a child, or have been a mother role for a child. They are still mothers/moms, and they 1000000% should be called mothers/moms, and be celebrated.

I was a foster kid, I was later adopted by my mom. She has raised me for the majority of my life, and has exceeded the definition of what I call a “mother,” she is my “MOM.” Just because she didn’t give birth to me, that doesn’t erase all the hard work and love she has put in to parent me.

To me, a mother is someone who gives birth/is biological to a child. A mom is someone who has raised a child, loved them, cared for them, and has been an active and engaged female role in a child's life.

I adopted my daughter, and yes, I think anyone who takes on the responsibility of loving and nurturing a child is a MOM.
