Asking your mom or mother in law to be your Childs surrogate mom, sounds ok or odd?

It sounds odd by social standards for sure. It would probably cause a lot of tension in the family if asking such a thing to someone.

But. At the end of the day. If you're both consenting adults and both agree to it. It's between those two and no-one else.

There are pros and cons and they both heavily depend on your own balances of values in your own life if personally considering this.



I have personally been asked to he a sperms donor to a dear friend of mine so they could have a child. I didn't know how to respond. I didn't say yes or no. It was a very odd feeling. But being the good friends of a decade we were. It didn't cause issues. Still, it was an uncomfortable feeling.

Bearing that in mind it's a very delicate topic for those involved. Yes, it's odd. But do what you want.

I will say also. If it is a daughter asking her mother. Depending on the age of the mother, please consider the health risks of pregnancy at an older age.

Well... there are probably pregnancy related costs over the course of 9 months. I'm not knowledgeable having never been a woman or carrying a baby. But those receiving a surrogate baby often pay for anything the surrogate needs that is directly linked to the pregnancy.

Asking anyone to be your child's surrogate is an incredible honor and a statement of love, trust and family.

If that's what you want for your child, you have to ask. Do it in a setting that's safe for both of you to talk about your needs, desires and concerns. It isn't a conversation to have while standing on a busy subway platform.

No matter the answer, just asking takes strength and any normal person would be flattered by being chosen.
