Do you believe is tacky people post photos on social media when they are ill?

Liek posting photos from the hospital bed or even if they are sick at home from the home bed, even if they are smiling and trying to have a good actitude.

Do you need to know that a friend or realtive love one is sick by seeing theri photos on social media?

Let me give you an example. A guy I know who is s former classmate from high school, his dad passed away recently while he was in Europe. I dont know if he was already sick or it was a sudden death, but I believe he was suffering from somethign and he was sick months before.

Today he posted several photos that were not recent though. They were photos of different family get togethers when his dad was alive. In one of those photos, there is a photo of his dad in what i t looks like a hospital or clinic bed and his dad laying on it. The father was like laughing or smiling and he was surrounded by many friends and relatives so someone took the picutres like that, The father being ther with his close family.

I dont know but in my opinion photos like that posted on social media when a person is sick or at the hospital are tacky even if they person is putting an effort to look good and have a good attitude and try to smile. I dont find amusement in seeing a person laying at the hospital bed regardless if they are sitting or doing nothing. It is not the place to take photos and even worse post them on social media

As a hospital worker? I find it very tacky and distasteful. Who wants to have their picture put online when you are sick and miserable in a hospital?

Only someone seeking attention, views, and pity. Please don't do that. I'm fine with people posting pictures of say, them thanking the staff, or you had a good experience at the hospital (assuming you get the staffs permission of course). But if you're genuinely sick and posting online? Pathetic.

The ONLY exception where I guess it would be okay, is if you needed to post it as proof of you being sick (ie: your job) and even then do you really need to post that online for the world to see? Not really. Nowadays there's really no filter to what people post online and it's kind of sad.

But some peopel say it is not tacky if it is just a way t o remember that pèrson in case that person will die so that photo could be the llast good memory if tha tperson is surrounded by their love ones.

My family has some of these kinds of photos. In many cases, these are the last memories they can preserve of their loved ones.

But there's a big difference between taking a genuine photo with someone who happens to be in hospital, and taking a pic for virtual points and EXPLOITING someone in a hospital bed.

My father got rushed to the hospital yesterday morning, for a ruptured aneurysm.
He's stable, but we still don't know the extent of the damages - he moves his eyes and looks at us, but nothing else. The last thing I want to do now is take a selfie with him.

Maybe there are family members that can't make it and dsd/grandpa is dying and they just want to say goodbye to as many people as possible.

Yes I think so. You are there to get better/recieve treatment, which is what you should be focusing on.

If you are letting family/friends know that you are there this way then I think that is acceptable.

To try to get extra attention or make people worried so they show concern is very weird.

I think you're missing the point. It's a memory of a loved one in a happier time, probably taken for the benefit of all the people (family & friends) in the photo.

They want a good memory of him, when they were happy together for a second, even if he was sick.

I wish I had pictures like that of my dad, and my two BFFs. But I don't and now they're gone.
