Is 5 years later too late to clear someone's name?

Someone got framed for stealing and something else, got suspended and nearly expelled. We were in 7th grade at the time. However, once in a while (seldomly) a couple classmates still talk about it. I thought they had forgotten it already. Apparently not.

This is my last year of HS and want to end the year with a clear conscience even if it means losing friendships or getting haters. Bad things have been happening this year and now it's following me even in my dreams (well nightmare) several times. I can't take it anymore.

Is 5 years later too late to clear someone's name or not?

Do it, better to make the transition from HS to the bigger world with a clean slate mentally. since leaving HS I have never once spoken to any of my classmates. Do what you got to do for you and dont worry too much about how it will reflect on other people.
