Is it excusable to forget someone's Name Day?

In some of Europe's countries, including mine, we have Name Days. There are some people that I kind felt close to and I send messages on their birthday or name day.

Am I right to feel PISSED and don't want to talk to those that simply don't care enough to send a message, let alone call ? Should I break it with them completely ?!

A name day is a tradition in many countries in Europe and Latin America that consists of celebrating the day of the year associated with one's given name.

I think you're overreacting, and some people give those name days way too much significance, how could it possibly be more important than your birthday? and no it's not true it's all over the place so you can't miss it, unless it oh I don't know - st.stephen's day, st.john's or mary or sth like that, or you check one of those catholic calendars every day. But even if your name is one of those, I just don't really think people will automatically think of you, not because they don't care, but I don't know, just because. I will remember someone's name day only if it's for example my sister, parents, or really close friend

i said in the question "close friends". Namely someone like my crush. She, always posted on someone's Facebook, when other Name days were celebrated. And some were people she barely talked to, some that even pissed her. BUT doesn't write me a message. Nothing, nada! You either like me or not. What's wrong with her. She acts kind of weird/shy yet interested around me so I thought that might have influenced her not messaging me, to show no interest. Have no idea what's going on! But it hurts!

if I were her (and I used to be shy once) I don't think I would have been brave enough to write you something either lol, but it's kinda silly of me to assume what she would or wouldn't too. But if you like her enough, and think she might like, don't let this change your opinion and get mad over one thing

I'm not sure what "name days" are, or how significant they are, but it sounds like you're being a drama queen about it.

Get over it. It's just a day. It would be really, really silly and immature to cut someone off over this.

It's just like your birthday only that they celebrate your name. At most I was expecting smth along "you're overreacting, maybe they..." but "drama queen" ?!

Wouldn't you feel strange if people you cared about and "invested in" forgot to call or send a message if there was a britanny day ?! I find it more insulting than forgeting a birthday wish because this Name Day thing is all over the place and you can't miss it and go : "oh I forgot". This means you forgot my name is X and forgot me completely as a person. Anyway thanks for your comment...

No? I don't care. One of my best friends forgets my birthday every single year. We've been friends since we were 4 years old, and she still can't remember my birthday. I don't care. It's not important.

i think you are overreacting a bit... of course it's fair to feel a bit stung but people forget or sometimes simply aren't very good about doing these types of things...or perhaps they just don't really feel like celebrating Name Day.

I'd say if the other 364 days of the year they seem like friends there is no reason to "break it with them completely" over this one thing

Name days are bullsh*t.

Apart from that, I don't even care if people forget my birthday. I can't possibly remember everyone else's so why would I expect it from others? I might forget my own birthday if I start caring less.

You should make everything less about you and more about others mate.

In Finland they also celebrate name days, but I'd say it's more for small children than adults. And personally I couldn't care less about it, so like britannny suggested, I'd say you are mighty emotionally fragile if something like that gets you pissed.

Hmm well we don't have name days where I live but we do celebrate birthdays. If somebody forgot mine I wouldn't really mind because I sometimes forget mine myself. I don't really put a lot of significance in things like that. I sometimes forget family and friends birthdays too but they understand because they sometimes have to remind me that mine is coming up lol

Heck, I couldn't care less when people forget my birthday; let alone if there was something like name day where I live; I agree that some people give those name days way too much significance
