Why don't people have more sense of humor?

I made a couple friends and relatives believe that my ex boyfriend followed me and just beat me up (by applying some make-up) for a few minutes. Even after I've repeatedly told them all it's just a joke, no one was laughing. Once in a while, I just like being creative with pranks or lighten the mood even if it's a bit dark.

Seriously I haven't even spoken with my ex boyfriend for 2 years now and last thing I heard he's with someone else. We just went our separate ways, unfriended each other and that was it.

Where is the sense of humor? I've seen others play pranks similar to this and they have their followers that find it creative.

Yeah, trying to frame men in your life for abuse and violence isn't funny or humourous.

It's pathetic, disgusting, and insensitive.

It's a blatant "give me sympathy and attention" move at the expense of someone you're already done with.

Your family and brother have humour. You're the one who doesn't have it.

Pranks and jokes are only funny if they don't hurt other people. And especially if it means you go around pretending for 2 days that someone assaulted you.

People go to jail for that shit. Maybe you will, too, if your family shares your sense of "humour".

I think the main issue in that particular case is the joke just wasn't funny... Going beyond the fact that domestic violence is a really serious issue that some women face; you tried making the "joke" about a guy that you/they know and that those accusations can (and often do) have very serious legal and social implications for the men those accusations are made against.

Most consumerists cannot handle creativity and imagination.
You could have brought a sound generator that produces cartoon sounds or a laughing audience imitation. Such people need their trigger signal to find out the funny moment of a joke.
