Just focus on being as nice a person as possible and try to connect with them. Look up someone named "Daryl Davis." This black man managed to connect with and convert something like 200 members of the KKK.

Happy to help! Anytime you're dealing with a difficult person, it's best to try to approach them from the standpoint of understanding why they are doing what they're doing. Many times, racists are racist because of a lack of interaction the group of people and because they're scared. It's very difficult to hate a large group of people when you've interacted with enough of them to see that there is no set "type" of person who happens to be [race].
