How strict were your parents and grandparents? did you need permision to even breathe?

They were kinda strict. I wasn’t allowed a phone or social media until I was 15, I wasn’t allowed to hang out with friends outside of school until I was 18, I wasn’t allowed to go to concerts or shows even if chaperoned by an adult, I had a part time job from ages 12 to 17 and 80% of my weekly income was taken by my mum to be put into a savings account that I wasn’t allowed to touch until I turned 18 (which in the long run did help a lot when I left home), I wasn’t allowed any technology (laptop, gaming console, tv, phone) in my room unless my door was left wide open, I wasn’t allowed to dye my hair at all until I was 16, I wasn’t allowed to get piercings or tattoos until I was the legal age to get them without parental consent, I wasn’t allowed to have a boyfriend stay the night at my house until we’d been together for over 18 months - and even then he was only allowed to sleep on the couch, not allowed to sleep in the same bed as me.


All strict parents do is create sneaky children. I did a lot of the things that I wasn’t allowed to do behind my parents backs.
