Actually talk with their kids to know what they are being taught in school, knowing who their friends are, having family time together each week (family game night, movie night, outdoor stuff, etc.). They should also set a good example for their kids without being hypocritical. For example, if the parents don't want their kids doing drugs or drinking alcohol, then the parents shouldn't be doing that either.

A good parent shouldn't give their kid a smart phone. Unsupervised access to the internet is a VERY bad thing.

Aww thanks! I hope so. I love kids and cannot wait to start a family. We are getting close now. Just months away and then I can start thinking about that next step. 🙂

One that acts like a friend, and introduces them to a world of good influences. I think every child needs a role model..

Being a protective parent, being a good example overall, talking to the kid so we actually know what's going on in his/her head.
