Did I go to far with joking about leaving my husband?

It's been many years since I haven't done a single joke in my life. I did them when I was in my 20's but suck badly at it. For some reason hardly anyone would find them funny.

I was just joking about leaving him. It took nearly an hour to reassure it was just a joke. I'm here till death. Did I go too far with that? I was watching youtube pranks for a while and I just thought maybe I can pull one like that.

He really thought I was serious about it. I wasn't. I was just trying to light the mood I guess and thought by the time I tell it's just a joke, we would laugh together. Neither he nor others found it funny.

Well you prob hurt his feelings. He was probably scared to lose you.
Making jokes like that are not funny but hurtful. It doesn't light up the mood you can make another joke about something else without hurting someone's feelings so please think if someone did it to you if you would like it or not and put yourself in others shoes.

By his reaction and others not finding it funny, I've learned that if you're the only one laughing at your joke then it's not funny.

Yeah and it's okay to make mistakes but you should think before you talk especially when it involves others

I guess being funny does takes skills and talent. It has to be great to make others laugh and not everyone has that ability.

You should watch the Trash Tuesday podcast. Annie Ledderman is hilarious. I don't know about her standup though.

yeah I just learned that you can't be the only one laughing at your joke. If you are then it's not funny. So much for trying to make a joke out of a dark humor.. I suck at it.
