When people ask "how are you doing" do you like it when the other person says "good how about you"?

I say it usually but it gets kind of awkward because they either give no answer and completely ignore me or they say good but in a concerned tone. But when I don't say how are you they act like I'm out of line with that one

Just saying I’m doing good and then stay quiet to see what they want?

That's good I'll do that. Thanks. it gets super awkward, especially today, I was walking in my office at work and my coworker asked me "how are you" I said "good how are you" and she was like "I'm good..." then explained her day.

I hate asking or being asked bc people don't care really or follow up it wastes everyone's time

Same especially when they're passing me by because one person has to stop walking and as you said it wastes time. I mean I guess it's a nice thing but I usually ask that if I see someone crying or they look upset then I'll say it but if they'r going to work like we both don't want to be here so not good lol
