Best friend and I haven't met up all summer. Should I confront her about the distance?

It's super weird but my best friend of many years and I haven't seen each other at all this summer. I get that we're both adults with busy lives but don't understand why; she kept saying she was "busy" even though she was obviously hanging out with other people loads on social media and making plans with them. We did end up meeting once and had a nice time but that's it. It's now the end of summer and we've seen each other once, should I try to talk to her about it? Ask if there's anything wrong? Or am I looking into this too much?

I’ve been having the same issue with my best friend and let me just say she probably is busy. Like personally I feel bad to have to say I’m busy and it seems like it’s constant for me as of late, but tbh you don’t really know what she’s got going on, or if she is with other friends those could be plans she already had but regardless she is busy. You could talk to her and try planning for something in advance but get ready for more of this to happen. As you get older like gets busier and it’s less time for girls night or hang outs. If she’s like me then she won’t like being nagged about it, and you should be more understanding.

Thank you. It's nice to see another perspective. It just feels like I'm on the back burner with plans a bit. I get that she is busy, but it would be nice to see her more that's all.

I get it, I’ve been best friends with mine for 10+ years and for a lot of our early 20s we were together several times a week, sleepovers and all that. But eventually life started really happening, we made our own separate friends, relationships here and there, then eventually it was once a month, then every other month (it fluctuates). Moral of the story is that these changes happen, but don’t take it too personally. I’d say to stay busy, try and meet some new people, and make time for each other when you can.

You don’t have to “let her go” just move on with your lives and if you guys drift organically then it means you’re making room for a better person in your life
