I grow up where my mom and grandma cooked home cooked meals everyday even when they came home from work. My grandma til this day still cooks home made meals 5 times a week for me and the family at the house. 😃

It's not necessarily a wife's "duty" to cook any more than it is a husband's "duty" to kill spiders, cut the lawn, wash the car or buy her flowers. Cooking is a way a wife shows her love for her husband and her family. My grandmother and mother also cooked (well), partly because it was seen as their role, but much more importantly because it was how they loved. I'm grateful they took teaching me cooking skills seriously from the time I was young. I see so many girls my age who can't cook or don't have anything more than basic cooking skills because their mothers didn't set that example and teach them those skills, and because many see it as a demeaning traditional gender role. But those girls don't have one of the most important tools in their tool bag for attracting and keeping a quality man, and loving him, and they won't get the satisfaction and fulfillment that comes from doing something so important for their loved ones. In my home growing up, the kitchen was the heart of the home, and good food was a foundational part of family time and bonding. It's such an important emotional component of a happy and close knit family and the quality time they spend together. I feel really sorry for families who don't have that.

The girl in the picture 🤣. I know why you used her photo.. Anyways , I feel it goes both ways. I think both wife and husband should know how to cook. My ex boyfriend was an excellent cook. He showed me a few of his recipes and I showed him mine. Ofcourse I enjoyed his cooking because it was very diverse sense he has traveled a lot via military. So I preferred his cooking over mine. Where I'm from seafood and Mexican food was like the go to dish so I pretty much resorted to the same dishes. Him on the other hand cooked Indian, Italian, Latin, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and carribean food. So yeah that's why he cooked most of the time lol

Eh. I think it's whoever's duty that isn't working as much or is home around that time. Whether that's the man or woman, idc. Back in the day, a man could provide for a whole family working a simple 40hr a week job without a degree. Today, there's a lot more teamwork involved unless you have a good career.

Personally, I grew up in an italian household where cooking and eating was a family event. My grandparents on both sides were all very involved in making dinners and always got us kids involved as well. My one grandpa even had a huge vegetable garden and would make all kinds of food, soups, canned goods, pickles etc. Because of that I learned how to cook at a very young age. I have such happy memories of that and always wanted a wife that I can grow vegetables with and cook with. Currently have that with my girlfriend as well <3

That food isn't going to cook itself & I got a lot of other stuff to do around the house that the wife is never going to do like plumbing, security, installing equipment, electrical work, fixing locks, windows, doors, masonry... lot of other stuff.

I actually am a great cook but I'm not going to cook that much.

No. I do not think it's anyone's "duty" to cook for anyone unless they are an employee.

If you want a wife to cook for you, then that's a discussion you have together and agree upon together.

I want my future husband to cook and clean, but I would never say, imply, or think it was his duty.

When I cook for my partner I do it out of love, when I want to. I'd hope he'd never think it was my "duty".

It's not anyone's duty to cook. It's up to the family to determine what the best arrangement is. Sometimes, it IS the wife that cooks, other times it's the husband. There's no hard and fast rule, especially if both husband and wife have careers.

Both should want to learn how to cook, and take turns accordingly. The wife should want to be good at it. After all: she can easily take care of herself that day, even if he's out of town. But if for whatever reason he's got something special going on, and he knows how to cook / grill, then she can take a night off, and enjoy his cooking for a change.

- If the man works and earns money but the woman doesn’t then yeah it’s her responsibility.

- If they both work then both of’em should do it together.

- If the woman works and the man doesn’t, then it’s the man’s responsibility.

We take turns here; both of us have own ''special'' food skills and we put them together to enjoy a wider variety.

Now if she wants to , if she feels it incumbent on her as her genders role that's fine.

It the couple’s duty to work together. The wife cooking is simply a traditional way of doing their part in helping, just as it’s traditional for the husband to be the one with a job. These are perfectly acceptable, but not their duty. All that matters is them both equally pulling their weight in the relationship.

Yes, Biblically. My wife and I do it on schedule. My wife is a teacher and so am I. Sometimes I cook because she is tired or dealing with the kids I take that load of her. Because you know everything thing is "Mommy, mommy, mommy!" 😂. When she cooks I do the dishes. When I cook she does the dishes. It's all about teamwork.

I think "duty" is a wrong word and THAT is what hets people's fise going.

It is just a piece of the recipe of a healthy married and family life. doesn't mean guy should not know how to cook or he should not help. It is just like kids raised at day care and late school when both parents worked all day just to maximize their income or the mom giving more weight to career at expense of her attention to the kids. Some responsibilities are essential.
