Is it such a problem to be polite and text instead of ignoring?

I was supposed to hang out with my acquaintance but he's ignoring my messages the whole day. Is it such a problem to be polite and normally cancel the plans instead of ignoring?

Why do some people do that?

It's so annoying because I could have planned something else with someone else

No, it’s not a problem to be polite. Some people don’t have that tact though, and him ignoring you is a great example of that. It’s fine though, because now you know what sort of person he really is and should never make a plan with him again. If one day you do, then approach the situation without expectations and having any potential plan on the back burner. Don’t initiate a single thing and let him do the legwork to make the plan happen.

I am wondering about this myself, it seems to be a modern phenomenon of the generation Internet. Probably for people with 500 virtual „friends“, the single individual loses his/her significance. 🤔
