• Long story short. I am 22 years old about to 23 in 2 months.. for Thanksgiving break I decide to go to Mexico for a few days. I am financially dependent, have my place and everything.. I paid for the trip by myself.. my mom is trying to get me to cancel the trip bc she doesn’t want me to go.. she using the im the parent and I said no

If you are living on your own and paying for the trip, then you can do what you want. I don't think it's a good idea to cause tension with your parents for trivial reasons. But I don't think this is trivial. It's your life now and you have to take control of your life. If you let your parents control you, when will it end? You need to put your foot down and do what you want. You don't need their permission.

At your age, your parents should not be trying to control you. Giving advice is fine and even desired. But they should not be making demands, and should not be using the excuse "I'm the parent so you have to do what I tell you". That is controlling and should not be happening.

If you are financially dependent upon your Parents in any way THEN you must always consult IRS audit department or BOA/Wells Fargo before moving forward with any Transactions outside of their purview.

YOu want freedom and adulthood Ms. Mexico then "Because I said So". How dare your Arse not be at the only Family Holiday that has a Right-Heartedness to it.

If your parents provide for over half of your financial stability, they ultimately do get a say. Whether you agree is a whole different issue.

Here's the thing, unless you start your own business you're always going to be financially dependent on someone, whether that's a job or family. A job can also dictate that you aren't able to take a vacation during a specified period of time.
