I notice there are LOT of women and men here who have been sexually abused in the past or have friends and family who were, and now they are here projecting their hate onto others, even if the other people have nothing to do with it.
Why don't they get therapy instead of being here?
Everybody has problems in this world, they don't have to be horror story bad you know. Some poor souls just have had that experience.
You should not trust people online without applying some common sense naturally. You can however get free experience and advice in the sense of: suddenly looking at things from another perspective, right.
Not all advice is sound advice, but it's better than no advice at all and being left alone with a problem in your own mind.
You apply your own self and logic to what you make of it, what is suiting to your situation. Because people cannot look into your head.
And also I think the name gives away why there might be many relational and deeper kinds of questions that might seem "issueish" here.
Emotions and questionings of behaviour are very complex things to describe with words. Some are incredibly good at it, some are like me.
And I'm not that grand with words 😅
I see this as a site where people can anonymously "spill their guts" or vent or whatever. It is less expensive than therapy and much safer that pissing off friends and family. Unless the person is clearly a troll or a condescending pseudointellectual or wannabe know-it-all, I just listen and try to help.
I think with the internet in general there has always been some comfort for those to hide by anonymity. Where this site lets you take that anonymity one step further and actually hide your username, some probably feel safe to ask and discuss things they donât feel they can literally anywhere else. Some are not true and just attention seeking. Like others have said, for others it may boil down to validation. Or reaching to find literally anyone who might relate to their situation. Therapy can be expensive and people will say stuff online that they wouldnât say to anyoneâs face, including therapist I imagine.
I dont think there all that many of them around here, its just coming down to the 18th rule of the internet

In outher word if you can label something as a group your more likely to remmber it, and there for more likely to see it as a "group"/label
There may be a lot more nowmal no issue, but that dose not stick out as much as something more exstrem
And there will be se becouse we got pepole from all around, some trolls as well, in the end with a mix you get all the food the bad and the ugly :)

Not sure. For someone who has not gone through anything like that, I cannot say their reasoning. Perhaps they feel this is a safe space to discuss or vent. Who says they are not or have not received therapy anyhow? That is an assumption.
They may meet people with similar experiences and be able to lean on each other for support. That is not uncommon to share a traumatic experience with another person and be able to learn from them how to cope.
As long as they are comfortable being here and not harassed or bullied, that is their business.
I see users here on a regular basis reaching out for support. Sure, you are going to have the people that want to make it worse, but there are also a lot of users here that genuinely care and want to help any way that they can.
If GaG provides an extra outlet to someone that needs it, I say good. That will be up to the individual as to what they get out of this site.

I don't know for sure, but I think a lot of those people pretty much just want validation from others and this is the only place they have any chance of getting it.
Most of it is made up stories for attention.
For example majority of How Do I Look, where anon posters repeatedly post random pics of girls to be rated & hard up dudes drool over them thinking their real. Thats legitimate mental issues right there. GAG should do away with that shit anon posting.
They consider this therapy which is ludicrous as itâs only a place to ventâŚ
There is definitely many hateful people on here, I've been blocked and had to block. too many racists and sexists bigots on here. Not sure why so I can't say it's because of abuse or anything.
It's a place for people to vent their frustrations, rather than just doing better things to improve their mental health deterioration
Even Sigmund Freud said that therapy only works if you have to pay for it.
Maybe some have no where else to turn to. This forum can help people vent.
Why don't you think they're not also getting help?
