Is this gossiping?

My dad came to me today and told me my older brother relapsed last night. He's a recovering alcoholic and he has been a good couple of years sober. We all live together, my family and him. If he falls off the wagon it basically affects everyone because he's a violent alcoholic. I was thinking about telling my mom about it but then I thought is that gossiping?

No matter how the addict of something tries to smooth it out, live in denial. If you have close contact with family, they will know and they will be the first ones to feel the misery... sadly.

My neighbor is a fucking disgusting, trash talking sob! This is gossip in my ears. It's true though 😜

What you're stating has been a complex issue in your family, it's happened before and you're not assuming anything. Since your dad told you a fact. It does not have to mean anything (I hope for your sake). But never trust your brother with alcohol. It starts with a tiny amount, then it's back to the same shit in 1 month.

I'd react if I were my family, the amount of amphetamine and alcohol I've poured into this body over a really long time sickens me to this date. It's an agony I cannot grow away from, run away from. I can only live with my past and accept it. Genuine care and love heals me. I was a monster, nobody close deserved what I turned myself into. I hated myself but the quick fixes never worked. It was only prolonging me from getting help for my underlying issues.

It turned out in a very serious event of tests that I'm quite severely bipolar. Tell your brother to seek help for his real problem. Nobody abuses things because they feel awesome, it's an illness, a sickness. And if they are left unattended for too long due to not wanting to hur them, because you love them. They become monsters, detached from humanity, society, reality.

My issues never resolved themselves until I TOOK CHARGE of my life. Your bro gonna have to decide how long he wants to run from his rootly issues. Because that is not the way to do it.

I don't know how severe this is for you or your family, my family was on the verge of breaking apart before I took charge. This was an ongoing problem for a decade 👍

I don't think that this specific situation is gossip. You all live together and are family. What's going on to members of a family who live together impact the other ones. If I were the dad in this case, I'd tell you too. You're right: gossip is bad but I don't think this is it.
