Is it ok to bully your child because he is a failure?

Someone has invested a lot of money in to their son who turned out to be a failure in life. She looks at him with disgust and disappointment. She looks down on him but never disowned him but takes all her anger and frustration out on him by constantly making fun of him, looking for ways to demean humiliate and invalidate him. She won't accept the fact that her son is simply not a successful bright person.

Absolutely not. That's still hrr kid and extention of her, it's normal for parents to want the best for their kid but they also have to understand that not every child is the same socially or mentally. Some parents put to much pressure cause they try living through their kid cause they didn't have the drive or missed out on the opportunities they had growing up. It's normal to give a little push, especially if you know your kid really is just being a typical lazy kid but if they are trying and it's not giving them the best results then the parent needs to find another solution. Berating him and yelling at him will backfire on the child and mother and will make him never trust her again. Parents who do this will have regrets later on in life should rhey need their child's aid, he will remember this and might not come to her need.

I honestly doubt this mother truly cares about her son's well-being. he's doing ok in life, has a job and is still building his career. But thats not enough for her. She wanted the prestige of her son going to an ivy league school, high test scores, all the fame. Her son having a job means nothing.

he does not trust her at all. And she doesn't even care that her son will never see her again. She believes that he fucked her over when he didn't succeed the way she liked. She believes that since she has spent thousands of dollars on his education then it means that he must meet her expectations.

I honestly don't think she ever truly loved her son in the first place.

Yeah that's child abuse right there.
Generally when a parent says their child is a failure it's one of two things.
The parent is forcing the child into a field or stream of study/skill that they simply are not good at instead of letting the child do what they're actually good at.
The child actually some kind of disability, physical or mental that the parent ignores.

Honestly I hope that the child gets the help they need and eventually when they grow up, cut off the toxic parent and never talk to them again.

the child was a teenager when the bullying happened. now the child is grown and is still being relentlessly bullied. the parent thinks that he deserves it because he "Wasted" all her money with schooling.

He doesn't have to remind a failure.. It's never too late in life unless you are dead or can't function well at all.. But that Definitely won't help him just because he is not where she thinks he should be.. Some people are late bloomers and just need a bit more of a loving push..
