How do I get my family to stop meddling with my life?

So I'm planning on going on a solo trip to Atlanta. My mom told my aunt about it and she was trying to jump down my throat about it and to not go alone. Like I'm 25 I can do what I want. My other cousins go outta town all the time and they don't say anything about that.

They’ll always believe they “have the right” to give their opinion if you live in/under their roof.

When you have your own place, you can just ignore them, or even correct them on that particular behavior.

I would even say that their behavior and poor way of showing that they care for you, would even be tolerated by you, if you had your own place.

If you do, then yes, do ignore it and realize they just care.

If you don’t, then the previous applies.

Also, in part it is care, and the other part is that the elders can get somewhat bored at times, and family gossip or “WOA THIS IS HAPPENING.” Drama will be their top interest.

You’re the latest news because you’re the upcoming generation. The one in the game. They’ll try to coach, they’ll want to be the commentator and photographer.

Understand what’s happening in their lives, and where they are, so you can better understand how that could affect yours and then not let it affect-

Yeah I still stay with my mom, she doesn't mind me doing stuff just my aunt and it's annoying. Trying to move out but still trying to save more money

I’ll just add that you don’t have to actively listen when they talk and after they do that find any excuse to be outside.

Maybe have them text things to you? lol

Just try to subtly limit their interaction with you when they get like that, or just “yeah” them while not taking it to heart.

Don’t absorb it. Don’t be in a kid mindset like you have to take it. Be in the mindset you’re an adult and you can listen to them speak their heads off, and share the opinions, but that’s all it’ll ever be- is opinions.

Establish boundaries. You don't have to listen to their negativity. Firmly cut off the discussion. Of they won't stop, then end the conversation.

Thanks, they care but too overly protective been like that since I was a kid. Always felt "sheltered' even as an adult when I listen to certain music with cussing my aunt gets all twisted in knot's
