Why does my uncle give me unsolicited advice?

He always tells me what I should do but he lives in America and his entire family are over weight with big problems

Unsolicited advice, it feels like an insult, right? Especially, when one should be listening as a tell-to source rather than thinking what they are going to say. That happens to me and I never confide in that person again.

As far as out of the blue unsolicited straight-up opinion... I hate that. I try not to say, "go get a hobby, look at yourself you (descriptor...) With family, I try not to get defensive and actually probe why the comment in a "I'm not taking your crap, without an explanation." I don't judge their response ALTHOUGH I have lots to say at that point.
