have any of you ever had a real friendship with the opposite sex then years later you both developed feelings? How’d you address it and what happened to the friendship?

Yes, although not years later. We acknowledged our feelings for each other. But both our careers kept us apart and we both met other people, fell in love, and got married. We've stayed friends.

Well I did at first be friends with a man that I thought would just be a friend but as time progressed we became more than that but not really a couple if that makes sense.
