What are the odds that a stranger’s friend request on Facebook is actually a friend/acquaintance that hasn’t got the courage to contact you directly?

Probably unlikely. When I was on Fakebook (that is intentional) I'd get friend requests from random people all the time with whom I had no common friends and no common groups. Half of them were clearly catfishes, but the rest would have extensive posts over a number of years, so were probably real.

But even if I did know who it was, I still wouldn't respond. I don't play those silly games.

As in they’ve made a fake account and are pretending to be someone else because they don’t have the courage to talk to you as themselves? I’d say extremely unlikely unless they’re mentally off.
