Is getting cheated on really the worst thing to do to someone?

I understand that's a betrayal but there is an even deeper betrayal than cheating and it takes the biggest prize ever, the very top:

- Murder or an attempt murder by a loved one you trust

The very first betrayal I've ever learned at the age of 5 was The Lion King disney movie, where his own brother throws him off the cliff. Getting murdered by your own sibling.

Taken this into account, cheating is hurtful but it isn't the worst thing to do to someone. What do you think?

While I understand many people bash cheaters, telling them they're lowlife and putting them as the most horrible person ever is over the top.
Taking away a loved one's life that trusted you... is the most horrible person ever.

I think betrayal of trust is one of the worst things that can be done against someone. In some ways it is worse than murder because the victim is left alive but suffers heavy emotional damage. At least the murder victim only suffers the pain of dying. I admit there can be varying degrees of impact of betrayal.

Not that I am suggesting that murdering a partner is OK.

Yet being left alive, at least I can eventually heal, find better and accomplish my goals of having a family with a decent man and doing other things in life. By getting murdered by a partner or another loved one, they cut me of my dreams, my goals and everything I wanted in life... taking away my choice to live, my freedom.

The comparison was an allegory intended to compare betrayal with a manifestly bad act. :)

To say there is something worse than x doesn't make x better. Being tortured to death by rats eating out your intestines is obviously worse than being killed by a bullet to head. But that doesn't make shooting a person OK.

It is low down snd hurtful as one can be in my book. Snatching the life out of another.

Nothing beats taking someone's life. That's the worst thing someone can ever do to a loved one. Meanwhile cheaters are selfish, you can still walk away, start over, find someone better and still accomplish things you wanted to do in life. A loved one murdering you means they took away your choice to live, your most precious thing in life.

I think it's excessive when some people try comparing cheaters to murderers. A cheater is selfish but at least you're still alive, at least they aren't taking away your choice to live.
