How to explain to my overly controlling family that I am going to be taking a 3 week holiday with my boyfriend they haven't met?

I & my siblings bought the house years ago as an investment & then our parents, disabled but independent, moved in as well.

But my family is controlling, it's something everyone I know from friends to colleagues say. My brother isn't without parents around but he feeds off of their energy - he's a follower & something of a bully himself - and well with the three of them it is stupid at times.

If you say move out - as sister did last year - the house is part mine, it's an investment. Yes I will move out to boyfriend's soon but in the mean time I'm sort of stuck.

You actually don’t need to explain it. If you’re an adult, you can do what you want. You can inform them that you will be going on this trip and that it’s not up for debate.

it's not like your a teenager living under someone else's roof. Just start packing and if anyone asks then you give a straight answer and continue on with what you were doing

You are 33, either live your life or don't. If you are not financially dependent on your family than just go.
