Anyone ever have a long time best friend just not want to hang out anymore?

I never really got a reason from him. He still lives with his parents and never really had a direction as far as a career goes. That never really mattered to me though. He does the uber and door dash thing for money and always has a decent amount saved since he doesn't really have that many expenses. Honestly, I think he's just pissed at the world atm. Nothing really anything that I did. About a year ago he introduced me to one of his friends and I guess I said some things I shouldn't have. Who knows, I tend to forget that some people can't take criticism even if it's a playful way.

That happened to me with one friend. It sucks.


I’m thinking maybe it had something to do with them being unemployed during the pandemic while I kept advancing in my career. Maybe he’s resentful. Maybe he’s intimidated. Maybe he feels like I’m not empathetic. Maybe he feels embarrassed. Im really not sure.


I’ve reached out to him several times to catch up and check in on him, to talk thinks out like old times, but he just ghosted me.


It hurt. But, if he’s going to refuse to communicate, I suppose there’s nothing else I can do. I just need to keep moving forward.

This seems fairly common and I do worry about this. People move up in life and the ones still spinning their wheels seem to get jealous and upset. You're still the same person, it's not like you go rubbing it in their face.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate. Because I really cared about him. And still do. But I can’t do much if he’s just unresponsive.
