You could say, "Hi, how are you doing?" "I was thinking about you the other day... "how is... / "I remember you saying... / "Are you still?" bring up something personal to them that would make it normal for them to be on your mind and then when they tell you about their lives, ask them questions and show interest in what they say. Then disclose something good that happened in your life recently and find a mutual point of conversation for commentary and discussion.
Well just be honest and said you forgot. Simple. Maybe you were busy with something

s Honesty. There’s no need to sit there and make up false excuses. If they’re true friends, then they’ll know that you’re forgetful. And if you’re honest and say you forgot, and then apologise, well then it’s up to the friend at that point on whether they forgive you or ditch you.
There is never a reason to text anyone. Communicate in the real way, or don't bother at all.
You tried to call and she is not answering. In this case, send a simple "I'm truly sorry" text and let it go.
