It's impossible to know for sure why someone's mom would be checking you out on Facebook without more information. However, it's possible that the guy you're referring to has talked to his mom about you and shared details about your life, personality, and interests.
Perhaps he's mentioned you in conversation with her and she's curious to learn more about you. Or maybe she's seen your name or picture on her son's Facebook profile and decided to take a closer look out of curiosity.
It's important to keep in mind that everyone's relationship with their parents is different, and some people may be more open with their parents about their personal lives than others. Without more information, it's impossible to know exactly what this person's mom is thinking or feeling about you, so it's best not to jump to conclusions.
