Anyone else have a traumatic move in childhood?

Right at 12. Thanks parents. I mean we lived on a shit street and they moved me into a frickin farm estate. So I don’t really blame their reasons. But it was seriously traumatic.

All friends practically gone. And weirdly the richer school district had meaner kids. Still gets to me today….

i remember several moves when i was really young. that's before my mothers schizophrenia diagnosis. she kept moving up as a teacher so my parents moved me through 2-3 schools before 12. moved me at 12 as well. to an all white school full of rich kids, which we were not. luckily we thrived there but we left behind our friends. then at 18 they moved us back to an area that was more gentrified. luckily my little sister wasn't affected because she still graduated at her old school. my older sister and i did fine in college.

then going to a 4 year college was a culture shock. more mexicans than i'd ever encountered! i even dated one. but it was weird.

now as an adult i'm the child that has the responsibility of taking care of them in their golden years. so i live in a very small town. i have a friend 1.5 hours away so that's something.

I was way too young to really understand the situation and adapted pretty well to the new place. I didn't really have stress since my parents dealt with everything.

That’s a better time. We also moved when I was 3 which of course I don’t remember. Teens will always be traumatized. Lol

Yeah a extremely traumatic move tbh. When i was 7 my mom decided to leave my dad. Packed up all us kids in the car and left without saying a word. Moved 12 hours away leaving literally everything behind.

Stayed there for 2 years then my parents eventually got back together. During those 2 years tho were rough, I skipped school everyday, had zero friends, didn't have a house for a long while.

So it’s better for parents to break up and have a friendly relationship than try to duke it out for the kids? I think so.

When I was around 6 or 7, our house burned down and we had to immediately move. Luckily my grandmother didn't live too far away and had extra room or we would have been SOL.

Yes, my parents made me homeless at the age of 12. I saw them one more time 3 years later, and I haven't seen them since.
