How close and warm is your family?

My parents passed away years ago. So did my grandparents, aunts and uncles. I loved all of them very much.

I have one sibling, a sister who is 3 years my junior. We live 8 to 10 hours away, so don't see each other much, but we are very close. We are as loyal as can be.
She has a daughter, and I love her, but she has kind of a distant attitude and I don't really know her very well anymore.

I have cousins, nieces and nephews, but they live far away. At this point, we have nothing in common. I'm Facebook friends with them, that's it.

My wife has a huge family in the Cincinnati area - 9 brothers and sisters and their kids and grand kids. She tries to stay in touch with them. She flies back to visit on occasion and some of them have visited us in California a few times. I like some of her brothers and sisters, their spouses and kids a lot. A few of them are really good people. I have never met any of their grand kids. I haven't been back there in years.

My family is not close and warm, there was a lot of fighting in my family, it's pretty insane.

I have nothing to do with my sisters and I have barely spoken to my brother since before Christmas so I am not close to them and I can honestly say my family were never warm towards each other

My dad’s side is pretty close and warm. My mom’s side is more like that wooden bridge from Horton Hears a Who (2008). I’m pretty close with some-most of them. That I know.
