Ex’s mom reaching out?

Hi. I’m a student about to get graduated in college and my ex’s mother texted me all of a sudden after 3 months that we haven’t talked. She texted me right before going to sleep she said, saying that she just wanted to say hi and that she is proud of me. She said that she has been very busy busy with work. She ended the message with: “loves and hugs from far far away”. I wasn’t expecting that message as we haven’t talked for 3 months and right before bed time. What does it mean she as my ex’s mom text me all out of the blue saying that besides that she wanted to say hi, she is proud of me when we haven’t been talking for 3 months of no contact she and I and I’m not with her son anymore and right before she going to bed as she mentioned herself in the beginning that she was off to bed but wanted to say those things? This was so unexpected to me as we are not close..!
