Girls, If you are a single mom, what advice do you have for women close to being a single mom or are new single mothers?

I’m not a single mom but my mom was with my older sister. She was able to do it because she had a good support system through her family (even though they were upset at first) and her friends. She worked two jobs to support herself and my sister. Whenever it came to dating she didn’t hide that she was a mom but also still had a separate sense of self. She was also extremely selective about who she ended up bringing home and made it clear that her child came first. So I think the biggest thing in the initial stages is to build up your support network so that you have one, whether it is through family, friends, or groups with people in similar situations etc and then building your life from there. It will definitely be harder but you can get through it if you take it one day at a time

Make sure you have a good support system in place with your friends and family if they are in your life. I'm a single mum and I am doing it completely alone with no help at all and no support and it is damn hard. It's just me taking care of my baby all by myself.

Budget. Money is going to be tight even if you have a job.

Next time make sure you know what kind of person you are going with before you have sex or a kid with him. But I'm sure you hopefully have 20/20 hindsight by now. Just make sure you get child support because raising a child on your own is not only a bitch, but can be pretty expensive. You are definitely going to need support of some kind.

Don't hide the fact you have kids but not necessary has to be the first subject on a date. Try to be yourself cause you will have no time for bullshit, what you see is what you get and that is a good pre selection. The one's that are still present, give it a try.

Hiding behind the anonymous post. I hope they remove this shit than you won't be able to be a coward and hide. You are one judgmental shit head. You are assuming every single mom out there is on welfare when that couldn't be further from the truth.

I know someone personally who is a single mom because her partner and the father of her children died and she is not on welfare. She actually works a full time job. There are a lot of single mom's out there who work and didn't choose to be single but they rather lost their partner to death.
